"Two more reasons why I like to volunteer"

One of the things I like about my community is the volunteerism that happens. I remember when I was growing up the volunteers I had coaching me in sports and drop in activities at the gym and the church. The adults made sure we were safe and that we had fun! That is a big reason why I volunteer today.

Born and raised in Port Edward and moved to Prince Rupert when the cannery moved.

I have worked at the Friendship House since 1987 and as the Executive Director since 1995
Since taking over we have averaged employing 30-40 people a year. Bringing over a million dollars in salary to the community annually.
My primary role is to look at the big picture and figure out how to be successful with the team I have.
We identify and set up programs based on need and develop a proposal with a workplan and I look for funding sources to approach.
I negotiate contracts and deal with the Federal, Provincial and local Govt Reps I figure out how we can work together.
I work with a board of directors and we have over the past few have worked on governance which we look at what our role is and who does what.

"The Best Candidate"

I have decided to run for City Council and I am looking forward to the challenge. This is my second attempt at running, a few years ago I ran in a by election, I was not successful but I gained a lot of experince. I hope to draw on that experince and build on that with knowledge, creativity. With the support of my community I think I can do a great job for the City of Prince Rupert, which I am proud to say is my home.
